Middle School Life Science Curriculum
Your child can learn science from a Christian perspective with this easy-to-use middle school life science curriculum for homeschool.

My 11-year-old daughter LOVES science. But she never liked the School of Tomorrow worktexts that most of her older siblings used.
So last year we decided to try Master Books Elementary Zoology curriculum. We both enjoyed it so much that we are jumping into the Master Books middle school science series this summer.
I’m excited to share with you what we love about this series!

About God’s Design Science Series
God’s Design Science is a series of high-quality middle school science courses that are based on a Biblical foundation. These courses aren’t just neutral in their approach—they are solidly Christian from beginning to end.
The series includes four full-year courses for grades 3-8:
- God’s Design for Life
- God’s Design for Heaven & Earth
- God’s Design for Physical World
- God’s Design for Chemistry & Ecology

I admit to being a bit skeptical when I saw that God’s Design Science was intended for grades 3-8. I mean, that’s a pretty big age span, right?
But after using the curriculum, I can say with confidence that the material is very adaptable and can easily be adjusted to each student’s needs.
The Easiest Way to Teach Homeschool Life Science
One of the best things about God’s Design for Life is that you only need two books: the teacher guide and the student textbook. Literally everything except the supplies needed for the experiments is included in these two books.
No scouring Thrift Books for required books. No late-night Pinterest searches for related activities. No last-minute printing of worksheets.
Instead, just grab the teacher guide and student textbook, and you’re ready to go.

Inside the Life Science Teacher Guide
1. Suggested Daily Schedule
Right in the front of the teacher guide is a wonderful suggested daily schedule for completing God’s Design for Life in one school year. The pages are perforated and pre-punched so that they can easily be removed and added to a binder for quick reference.
This schedule saves me so much time and mental energy. I love that I don’t have to plan out the entire school year ahead of time to be sure that we are staying on track!
2. Student Worksheets
All of the student worksheets are included in the teacher guide. Like the schedule pages, they are perforated so that they can be easily removed and given to the student each day.
Each individual lesson has its worksheet on a separate page, so there’s no need to save partially completed worksheets for another day. (No more digging through the trash to find a worksheet that I threw out too soon!)
3. Answer Keys
The God’s Design for Life teacher guide also includes well-designed answer keys for the worksheets, quizzes, and tests. All answer keys are organized by section, making them easy to access throughout the course.
I appreciate that the answer keys contain both the questions and the answers. It’s so much more convenient to be able to reference the question when I’m trying to help Kiera correct her worksheets.
4. Master Supply List
At the back of the teacher guide is a master supply list for the experiments for each section, as well a supply list for each lesson separately. All of these lists have handy checkboxes so it’s easy to keep track of what supplies we have and what we still need to get.

Inside the Life Science Textbook
The God’s Design for Life student textbook is really a beautiful textbook. There are plenty of full-color pictures and illustrations to break up the text and capture the student’s interest.
I chose to read the text aloud to Kiera, because in her words, “I understand it better when I hear you reading it.” I love that it adapts easily to what works best for her.
Science experiments are interspersed throughout the lessons. This is Kiera’s absolute favorite part of science!
We are currently working through the plant section of the course, and Kiera especially enjoyed doing leaf rubbings in the lesson about trees.

I am thrilled that God’s Design for Life has enhanced my daughter’s love of science while increasing her understanding of how plants work, all while glorifying God as the Creator. We can’t wait to learn more about the human body and animals in the rest of the course!
