The Easiest Way to Start a Homeschool History Timeline
Start your own history timeline quickly and easily with this pre-designed timeline and collection of printable timeline figures.
A timeline is one of the best ways to help kids visualize history as a chronological series of events that involve real people. History comes alive when students can see where people and events fit into the “big picture” of history.
If you’ve been wanting to get started with a history timeline but have been feeling overwhelmed, I’ve got an easy, open-and-go solution for you: the Timeline Trio from Homeschool in the Woods.
I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not required to post a positive review. See our Disclosure Policy for more information.
History Through the Ages Timeline Trio
The Timeline Trio is a complete timeline package that includes everything you need to get started with a timeline right away: a timeline notebook, historical timeline figures, and a placement guide to help you arrange the figures without going crazy.
Here’s an up-close look at each of the items in the set.
Record of Time Notebook
The Record of Time Notebook is an attractive horizontal-style 3-ring binder that holds timeline pages that cover the entire history of the world from Creation until the present. We love that the book lays completely flat when opened, making each page easy to view.
The timeline pages are printed on sturdy cardstock with background lines for written notes. The pages are already hole-punched and ready to insert into the binder. We found that the ivory color of the pages really allowed the timeline figures to stand out from the page.
Each page is clearly marked with the dates that it covers. Date increments vary; in general, the earlier the time period, the more years that are included on each page.

Collection of Historical Timeline Figures
The Collection of Historical Timeline Figures contains over 1, 260 beautiful illustrations of historical people and events. The black-and-white figures can be printed with or without the descriptive text, and may also be printed in wall size or notebook size.
We printed the figures with the descriptive text in notebook size. Kendra absolutely loved coloring in the images and letting her creativity flow. After she colored the figures, we cut them out and she used a repositionable adhesive runner to adhere the figures to the timeline pages.
Suggested Placement Guide
The Suggested Placement Guide is a big help in deciding where each image should be placed on the page, especially if you are indecisive (like me!) or want an idea of how many figures will need to fit on each page in the future.
Kendra really enjoyed using the guide on her own. She was able to place the figures without any help by following the placement details in the guide. Super convenient!
Other Basic Supplies You’ll Need to Start a Timeline
The only other things you’ll need are basic homeschool supplies like printer paper, colored pencils, and a kid-friendly adhesive.
