What You’ll Need to Make a Peacock Paper Craft
- Construction paper: yellow, white, 2 shades of green, and 2 shades of blue
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Liquid craft glue
- Black Sharpie or gel pen
- Printable peacock template
How to Make a Peacock Paper Craft
Step 1
Use the following colors for the peacock paper craft pieces:
- Dark blue – head, body, and small markings
- Light blue – wings
- Dark green – feather base
- Light green – large markings
- Yellow – beak and feet
Trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers and cut them out neatly.
Cut out the eyes directly from the template.
Step 2
Using liquid craft glue, attach the wings to each side of the body cutout; attach the eyes and beak on the head cutout.
Step 3
Attach the peacock’s head to the top (straight side) of the body; then attach the feet behind the bottom side (round end) of the body.
Step 4
To make the feather markings, attach the small marking pieces in the middle of the larger marking pieces. Prepare 14 of these eye-like patterns.
Step 5
Attach the prepared markings to the feather base, placing one marking near the edge of each scallop.
Step 6
Create accordion folds between each scallop of the feather base. (See photo below.)
Step 7
Pinch together the straight edges of the folded feather base. Use a stapler to fasten all the layers together.
Step 8
Use a black Sharpie to add eye details as pictured below.
Apply glue to the front of the accordion folds near the stapled end of the feather base.
Step 9
Place the back of the peacock’s body on the glued part of the feather base; allow the glue to dry completely.
