I am a planner by nature. It’s just part of who I am.
Reading lists. Shopping lists. Curriculum lists. Packing lists. I’ve made them all and then some.
(And yes, my husband may make fun of my detailed packing lists . . . but I’m not the one who forgets my toothbrush. Ahem.)
One thing has changed over the last few years, though: I’ve traded my pen and paper for digital planning tools such as Evernote and OneNote. Love at first sight, y’all!
Ironically, I was still doing most of my homeschool planning on paper. Now, thanks to Homeschool Planet, I am excited to be using an online homeschool planner for the 2015-2016 school year!
I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not required to post a positive review. See our Disclosure Policy for more information.

What I Love About This Online Homeschool Planner
1. Ease of Use
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Homeschool Planet really is a cinch to use!
Of course, I would be lying to say that it won’t take time to get the planner set up and running smoothly; after all, lesson planning IS time-consuming, even when you’re using a good ‘ole pencil and paper.
Lesson planning aside, the software itself is incredibly easy and intuitive to work with. Everything flows smoothly from one step to the next, and if you get stuck you can easily hover over the information symbol to get more details.
Homeschool Planet also offers a good selection of video tutorials if you prefer a visual demonstration.

2. One-click Rescheduling
The ability to reschedule with one click is worth its weight in gold. No more erasing and rewriting when plans change or when life happens!
If an assignment wasn’t completed for any reason, you can simply move it to the next day and bump all future lessons out one day farther. If you happen to work ahead, you can move all future lessons up one day on the schedule.
You can even drag and drop individual classes from one day to another on the calendar if you prefer.
3. Printable or digital options
You really can use Homeschool Planet either as a digital resource OR as a tool for neat, organized printables. It’s your choice!
Love a paper planner? You can print it! Want your kids to access their assignments online? Give them their own login.
And there are loads of different ways to display or print the planners or calendars, too:
- Display/print ALL calendars or planners
- Display/print only one person’s calendar or planner
- Display/print only selected calendars or planners

4. Assignment Generator
Homeschool Planet’s assignment generator is a time-saving tool that allows you to automatically fill in your lesson plans in certain circumstances:
- When you want to repeat the same assignment or chore every day
- When you want to break up a long reading over a certain number of days
- When you have a recurring lesson or worksheet pattern
- When you have a specific number of assignments to add

I could list so many more of the features that make Homeschool Planet a top-notch resource for homeschool parents and students, but these four are my absolute favorites.
