FieldTripZoom: Virtual Field Trips for Homeschool
A few years ago we were fortunate enough to belong to a very active homeschool group. Several of the moms were enthusiastic planners and scheduled as many field trips as we could possibly fit into our schedule. It was wonderful!
Then life happened. Several families moved away or joined another local group. I had two more babies and developed some health issues that leave me chronically fatigued. Field trips became far less frequent.
Recently, though, we have had the opportunity to participate in several virtual field trips. And wow! What a great alternative they have been for our family!
I received this product for free and was compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not required to post a positive review. See our Disclosure Policy for more information.
FieldTripZoom: Virtual Field Trips for Homeschool
FieldTripZoom provides live educational programs that will supplement and enhance your homeschool curriculum. And there are SO many benefits to using FieldTripZoom, too!
Easy to access
These virtual field trips are super easy to access. All you need is an internet connection, and you’re ready to go…virtually, that is!
FieldTripZoom sends a reminder email one hour before any events that you have signed up for. When it’s time for the program to start, it’s a snap to click through the link in the reminder email to join the live stream.
Eliminates the hassle and cost of travel
I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be able to stay safe and warm inside! Pennsylvania is freezing right now, y’all!
No coats and boots. No scraping snow and ice off the windshield. And we don’t even have to spend a dime on gas to enjoy these fabulous virtual field trips!
Offers a wide variety of programs
FieldTripZoom offers over 300 live stream programs from 90 different providers. Events are offered in the fields of music, history, science, art, health, and more.
Each program is categorized by grade range, which makes it super easy to determine whether or not a particular event will be a good fit for your child.
Collin enjoyed a virtual field trip to a Civil War museum, where he was able to view authentic items such as a water canteen and a gun. The instructor was very knowledgeable and had a real gift for keeping things right on Collin’s level.
Provides interactive learning opportunities
I love that students can actively participate in these virtual field trips! Collin was able to ask a few questions that he had about Civil War life, just as if he were actually there.
Questions are typed into a chat box and are answered aloud by the instructor. This format may be less intimidating for students that would not ordinarily speak up on a “real” field trip.
Affordable alternative to traditional field trips
FieldTripZoom offers an annual subscription that covers the entire family. Your third grader wants to participate in a program? Great! Your high schooler needs to join several events in order to round out one of his courses? No problem!
For one flat price, your entire family can participate in as many virtual field trips as you like. And with no travel expense, admission fees, or meals to buy on the road, the annual subscription will pay for itself in no time!
