*Struggling with Saxon math? End the struggle with these online Saxon Math videos from Nicole the Math Lady.*

A **gifted math teacher** can spark enthusiasm and build confidence in students. I know, because I had one such teacher.

Mr. Muir could bring math to life. His excitement about all things math was tangible, inspiring my determination to master each new topic.

I can’t say that I loved geometry, but with the help of my amazing teacher, I made it through and went on to genuinely love Algebra II.

As much as I love math, though, I don’t have the gift to teach it well. I struggle to present new math concepts clearly—my tongue twists and my mind races ahead.

I can *demonstrate*, but not *explain*.

Ultimately we decided to **use videos to teach math lessons**—that was one of the very best decisions we have made for our homeschool.

## Teaching Math with Online Saxon Math Videos

Nicole the Math Lady has developed an excellent **online video curriculum for Saxon Math**. With an engaging teaching style and a genuine passion for math, Nicole can spark that enthusiasm that kids need in order to conquer the math mountain.

In each course, Nicole presents all the lessons and investigations in the same order in which they are covered in the Saxon Math textbook.

Each lesson has a **lesson video**, a **“brain break,”** and a **practice video. **Students first watch the lesson videos to learn the new concept; then, after a quick “brain break,” they do the practice problems to apply what they’ve learned.

## What We Love About Nicole the Math Lady

### 1. Videos are available online.

I’m a huge fan of keeping homeschool portable *(car-schooling, anyone?)*, and lugging a laptop and DVD around is most certainly NOT portable in my book. These Saxon Math videos are available online and are accessible via mobile devices as well as computers.

My teen son, Collin, loves the idea of being able to watch his math lessons on his iPod! *Super convenient!*

### 2. Lessons are brief.

We have used other Saxon Math video lessons that were incredibly time-consuming. My teens and tweens dreaded math every day, in part because it took so long to complete.

With Nicole the Math Lady, lessons are divided into topics, with each topic getting its own short, to-the-point video.

Each lesson video is around 3-7 minutes long; practice videos are typically 5-10 minutes long. Algebra I and II videos are sometimes a little longer. *Bite-sized lessons for the win!*

### 3. Learning is fun!

Yes, I DID say *fun*! Nicole didn’t earn her title of “Math Lady” with boring, monotone lectures. *(Yep, we’ve had those before.) *

If other Saxon Math videos could be considered a math encyclopedia, then Nicole the Math Lady would be the “living book” of math. Her use of “NICOLEisms”—mnemonic devices, silly songs, and other strategies—helps make math both memorable and fun.

**See for yourself:**

**BIG WIN!** Within the first 5 minutes of watching the videos, Collin asked me if he could continue using Nicole the Math Lady for his math lessons. *My kid actually wanting to do math? Amazing!!*

Angela says

I need algebra 2. Do know of anyone else who is doing this? Thanks

Judy Hoch says

Mr. D Math offers online Algebra II classes! You can find more info here. 🙂

Susan Gardner says

This looks great! Are the lessons updated with each new Saxon book update/version?

Judy Hoch says

Susan, I’d suggest checking with Nicole to be sure about that. I do know she was going through and updating videos recently but I’m not sure which ones or why.

Hollie says

Is the cost per year?

Judy Hoch says

Yes, it is a yearly membership, Hollie.

Hollie says

Thank you

Amy Downing says

I am looking for help for my daughter with Saxon Geometry. It is way out of my. League of things I remember… could you cover any of the geometry? Or recommend someone who might be able to help? We have the CDs that come with the set but there is still some confusion.

Brooke Wasson says

I am trying to choose a math curriculum for homeschooling. Does Nicole the Math Lady have multiple lessons that go along with Saxon Algebra 1 and 2?

Judy Hoch says

Hey Brooke, Nicole the Math Lady covers every lesson in both Algebra 1 and 2. Is that what you are asking?

Susie Kellogg says

Good Morning, do you offer help with Saxon Calculus?

Judy Hoch says

Susie, I don’t believe Saxon Calculus videos are available yet. The highest level that I see is Advanced Math.

Spitts says

Is there a suggested syllabus so I know how much to have my student do in a day? I’m hoping to start and finish Algebra 2 by May 2021 and would love a guide on how many lessons to tackle each day

Judy Hoch says

I’m not sure about that…did you try going to Nicole the Math Lady’s website and asking there?

Hilary says

Thank you SO much for this recommendation, Judy! Teaching upper level math is beyond me, and I hoped I could find a good solution. I just signed my son up for Nicole the Math Lady and feel so relieved!

Judy Hoch says

I’m so glad this was helpful, Hilary! I hope your son loves Nicole the Math Lady. 🙂

Holly North says

Hi!

Do you have recommendations for video lessons for Saxon math 2? My 7 year old works independently very well I’m other subjects and would love to have videos for next math like his older brother! I wish Nicole did 2nd grade! 😭

Judy Hoch says

Hey Holly, have you seen the videos from Sarah’s Math Help on YouTube? I haven’t used these personally but they appear to be well done. Let me know what you think! 🙂
